Vice Minister Zhang Taolin meets Cuban Minister Gustavo Rodríguez Rollero

Vice Minister Zhang Taolin met with Mr. Gustavo Rodríguez Rollero, the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Cuba in Havana on June 17, 2014. The two sides discussed the establishment of China-Cuba agricultural demonstration park and strengthening bilateral agricultural cooperation.

 

At the meeting, Zhang stated that agriculture is of great importance to the economic development of both countries. With committed efforts from state leaders and agriculture authorities of both countries, China and Cuba are enjoying steady and in-depth development in agricultural cooperation.

 

Zhang also pointed out that, over the past two years, on the China-Cuba Agricultural Cooperation Plan signed in 2012, the two sides have conducted a range of fruitful cooperation activities. Under the framework of the China-Cuba Agricultural Demonstration Park, the two sides have made successful attempts for cooperation on livestock production, moringa, mulberry, and grain production.

 

Zhang stressed that China-Cuba Agricultural Demonstration Park will be a key project for bilateral agricultural cooperation for the coming years. China is willing to work closely with Cuba to carry out the workplan for the project agreed upon between China and Cuba.

Rodríguez Rollero expressed satisfaction with the cooperationactivities conducted by the two ministries since the China-Latin America and the Caribbean Agricultural Ministers' Forum in June of 2013.

 

Rodríguez Rollero also noted that, under the guidance of agricultural development strategy put forward by Cuban leader Fidel Castro, the Cuban side is going all out to step up its efforts to strengthen cooperation with China in livestock and feed sectorsand to facilitate the establishment of the China-Cuba Agricultural Demonstration Park.
